Used Skid Steer
Buying a used skid steer is an investment that takes some knowledge and research in order to ensure that you are getting exactly what you need. Here are a few things to look for when purchasing a used skid steer.
Size
Skid steer loaders come in many sizes from below 30hp all the way up to 80hp. Different sizes of skid loaders work well for different tasks. The smaller the loader, the less it is able to lift, but at the same time, a smaller model will be better for tight spaces. Often smaller skid loaders are used for snow removal while larger ones are used for moving large piles of dirt or other materials in an efficient manner.
Cost
Ranging in price from just a few thousand dollars to a major investment of over $40,000. Still, buying a used skid steer will save you a significant amount of money when compared to a new one.
Attachments
While a skid steer might be used for moving materials, they have attachments that can allow them to do many different things. At the time of purchase, it might be worthwhile to examine the cost of additional attachments.
Condition
Consider what the used skid steer was previously used for and if it has been abused. An unusually bad exterior condition could be the result of abusing the skid steer and it may not be advisable to purchase it. Of course look at the number of hours on the skid steer in relation to its age to get a better idea of its past.
